4 Gross Things That Can Happen When You Do Porn

Nobody wants an STI, but we all know what can happen if you choose to have unprotected sex. The vast majority of pornography features condomless sex, so when someone is asked about the grossest hazard of being a porn star, they’ll usually cite an STI. The fact is, so many porn stars have come out about getting STI’S, with one even claiming that “Herpes is always about 66%. Chlamydia and gonorrhea, however, along with hepatitis, seem to stick to everything from dildos to flat surfaces to hands, so, pardon my expression, but we are usually up to our asses in Chlamydia,” [1] that rather than serve as a shock to wake people up from doing and watching porn, it’s more of just a given. “Oh, you’re a porn star? Tell me about the STI’s you have/have had.” It’d be weirder to hear about someone in the industry who had never been infected, and so when I think about the gross stuff that happens to porn stars, Herpes and Chlamydia don’t even register.

  1. Rectal Prolapse. The argument that doing extreme anal porn, anal gape porn, or any of the other Laws-of-Physics defying sex acts that may be played out in a pornstar’s anus not only does not lead to rectal prolapse, but cannot, makes absolutely zero sense. It’s easy to find porn industry-backed research touting that regular anal sex has no lasting effects, but nothing described above could be deemed “regular”. While most sources don’t explore what constitutes “normal”, sexual psychophysiologist Nicole Prause says that if speed isn’t corrected for size in anal sex, rectal prolapse is a very real possibility. In other words, the extreme anal porn that involves gaping the anus with large objects, quick insertion of large objects, and double penetration are absolutely able to cause rectal prolapse. As if that isn’t enough, porn stars themselves have talked about prolapse as an effect of doing porn, and a first person account is more telling than what a giant industry wants to portray. And, for those of you who are blissfully ignorant to what rectal prolapse is, it’s where your intestines start falling outside of your body via the closest opening. You’re welcome for the visual.
  2. Vaginal Prolapse. Vaginal prolapse, which is often associated with the prolapse of other organs, such as the bladder, rectum, and small bowel, generally occurs with a weakening of pelvic floor muscles. Many women who delivered particularly large babies or had long labors can tell you all about vaginal prolapse, but like the connection between extreme porn and rectal prolapse, it’s hard to find something that conclusively states that excessively rough sex can cause this type of health problem. When researching the condition, strenuous activity is listed as a potential cause. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d consider a lot of acts carried out in porn as ‘strenuous activity,’ and some of the things I’ve seen shoved into and squeezed out of vaginas constitute large-baby ranking. The whole danger of natural childbirth is the weakening and/or tearing of the pelvic muscles, and those same muscles are used to hold objects in and push them out in pornography.
  3. Bartholin’s Cyst/Abscess. Bartholin Glands are the unsung, pea-sized heroes of the female reproductive system whose job it is to secrete mucus to lubricate the vagina.  In “Hot Girls Wanted”, Tressa details the excruciating pain caused by her Bartholin gland getting blocked due to the amount of sex she was having, resulting in a cyst the size of a golf ball that she had to get drained[2]. Ladies, if you ever find yourself hypnotized by the false allure of the porn industry, just imagine having a golf ball on your labia.
  4. Poop, urine, and vomit, oh my! In some porn, the focus is intentionally on bodily fluids. Assuming that the porn features paid actors and actresses, it’s possible that they know they are about to get defecated or urinated on.  It’s also possible, with all of the forcing things in and out of vaginas and rectums in porn, it’s completely involuntary and just kind of happens. Talk about killing the mood.

The glamorous façade of pornography is often used as an argument in the pro-pornography world: the women and men are enjoying their sexy, comfortable work lives and are getting famous to boot while the viewer can enjoy their sexual arousal in the comfort of their own homes. When you peel back the exterior, however, and get a glimpse of the horror within-well, is it really that arousing?
